Consulting civil engineers liaise with clients to plan, manage, design and supervise the construction of projects. They work in a number of different settings and, with experience, can run projects as a project manager. Civil engineering offers many opportunities as well as the satisfaction of helping to improve and enhance public quality of life in many settings.

Volunteers from Choice Properties Come Out to Provide Critical Home Repairs to a Low-Income Homeowner in Need

Today volunteers from various Choice Hotels properties in Dallas are dedicating their time to help Mr. John in our community keep his home and its value by making critical home repairs and renovations. This project is helping out a disabled elderly man named Mr. Paul John. Mr. John lives in his childhood home and has lived there for 60 years. He has a close relationship with his City Council Member and is trying to implement a Neighborhood Watch within his area. Mr. John has recently joined Rebuilding Together Greater Dallas' Advisory Board, further exemplifying his desire to help his community. Choice Hotels Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Sleep Inn, Clarion, Cambria Suites, MainStay Suites, Suburban Extended Stay Hotel, Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn brands serve guests worldwide.

Improvement for housing from extremely low levels and broader expansion for public works are expected to push the value of construction starts in 2010 to $466.2 billion, an 11-percent increase compared with 2009, according to McGraw-Hill Construction, part of The McGraw-Hill Companies, in its 2010 Construction Outlook. This follows a 25-percent decline predicted for 2009.
